For almost six generations, The National Capital Bank of Washington has proudly served the Washington, DC community.
Among our proudest accomplishments are the long-term relationships we’ve had with so many customers for over NCB's 129 year history. Multiple generations of families and businesses have trusted National Capital Bank for all their banking needs. That history is important to us, and our tradition of providing personal service is what sets us apart from other banks.
Our bank was built on a philosophy of engaging in sound business practices in everything we do – from the accounts and services we offer our customers, to how we recognize and reward our employees, as well as how we show our support for our neighborhood organizations and businesses.
This approach dates back to the founding family’s leadership and commitment to serving the banking needs of those in the Capitol Hill community. It all began with the original stockholder and long-time Vice President, Albert Carry and continued with his grandson, George A. Didden, Jr., who served as President for 52 years. Banking was part of the Didden family, and so began the succession of management when George’s son, George A. Didden, III took the reins in 1995. From there each of his brothers – Richard A. Didden, James M. Didden and Donald Didden, all served on the executive management team, as well as the Bank’s board of directors.
As bank officers and board members, the Didden family provided a continuity of leadership and dedication to serving the Bank’s customers and the community. Our history of integrity and strong commitment to the community has helped NCB earn the trust of businesses and families for generations.
Today, the Bank’s management team continues its commitment to fiscal responsibility, corporate integrity and community involvement – all values practiced by the founding family that will live on for years to come.
NCB is a full-service community bank headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. with branch offices in Friendship Heights and the Courthouse/Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia. As the oldest bank in the District of Columbia, NCB has been providing quality banking products and services to the residents and businesses of the Nation’s Capital since 1889.
